Su fulgor puede destruir vuestro mundo: Una mirada LGTBI+ a la historia de la literatura española
The history of Spanish literature that has never been written. Finally, a single volume brings together the entire literary tradition lost after centuries of censorship and homophobia.
An important part is missing from the history of Spanish literature. For a long time, literary criticism has hidden in the closet all the LGTBI+ content recorded over 1000 years in all kinds of documents. From the jarchas to the young adult novels published today, sexual and gender diversity appears constantly in our literature: La Celestina, Lazarillo, Don Quijote, and many other classics are more interesting if we do not forget that part of their content. Su fulgor puede destruir vuestro mundo ―a verse by Luis Cernuda that warns about what could happen if non-normative sexuality is made visible― recovers a silenced cultural tradition and restores the place of LGTBI+ people in Spanish literature, who have always been part of our literary history.
