A journey through the new Argentine gay/queer voices

The first Argentine story with a homosexual theme, published in 1959 by Carlos Correas, was titled La narración de la historia and was censored for being considered obscene. Since then, many writers have continued to tell the story of men who love and desire other men, despite the (self-)imposed silences.

This anthology brings together twenty-four short stories—one for each year of the 21st century so far—with the aim of offering a broad and diverse overview of contemporary Argentine gay/queer literature. Multiple voices, both established and lesser-known, capture and take to different terrains the mythical proclamation of Néstor Perlongher: «Lo que queremos es que nos deseen».

But it is not only about sexual desire, but also the longing to tell (ourselves), to seduce with words, to discover other possibilities of life thanks to the power of language. Narrating (and reading) our stories remains a form of resistance and struggle.
